How I spent my winter vacation, or part of it.

I was at my mother’s in Philly for the first part of this winter break. She doesn’t have internet or WIFI and it was a holiday week, so it was some challenge getting in this assignment for the Forward. In the end, here it is, titled, “Requiem for the American Jewish Novel?” out this week in their double edition. I love working with the Forward Staff. They are such smart, interesting people. My editor on this was Gal Beckerman who wrote the terrific book, “When they Come For Us, We’ll be Gone,” about the Soviet Jewry movement. It’s won a wide variety of awards. Anyway, here’s my piece on Philip Roth’s retirement:
